Sierra Valley Watershed
Assessment
Under a grant provided
by the State Water Resources Control Board (#02-045-250-0),
the Final Watershed Assessment (Existing Conditions Report)
was released in April 2005. The project was contracted to VESTRA
Resources, Inc. of Redding, CA. and is posted in pdf format
on VESTRA's ftp website. To access the report online [temporarily],
go to ftp.vestra.com; insert "vestra" as both the
username and password, then click on the folder named "SierraValley".

The
Noxious Weed Program
Under
a grant provided by "Secure Rural Schools and Community
Self-Determination Act Cycle-5, UDSA Forest Service-Plumas National
Forest" has accepted the SVRCD's proposal for 2006 Noxious
Weed Program. To further The development of an action plan focusing
on education and outreach that would join efforts of the SVRCD
with the efforts of USFS and P/S Weeds Group to further the
control and eradication of noxious weed populations in the Sierra
Valley. Specifically focusing populations of Yellow Star Thistle
(Centaurea solstitalis), Perennial Pepperweed (Lepidium latifolium)
and Hoary Cress (Ledidium appelianum).
2005 Annual Plan
Provides an overview
of the SVRCD, in addition to plans for natural resource protection,
management and assistance, outreach and education, promotion
of economic and agricultural viability, and development of infrastructure.
