The Tahoe and Plumas
National Forests are both neighbors in Sierra Valley. We have
worked extensively with the Sierraville R.D. on the Carman Valley
Watershed Restoration Project. You can contact the USFS
Soil Scientist for more information.
The High
Sierra Resource Conservation & Development District
assists the Sierra Valley RCD and others in the Sierras in many
ways. They are located in Auburn.
The Sierra
County FireSafe Council has information on fire-safing your
home and safe living in the the mountains. Please contact them
for details.
For technical expertise
on restoration issues, we often partner with the Feather
River Coordinated Resource Managment Group, based in Quincy.
Our local NRCS
District Conservationist (Natural Resources Conservation
Service) works with private landowners in Sierra Valley for
resource betterment and protection. In Range matters, the NRCS
Range Specialist is a Certified Planner and can assist landowners
in management plans and with Range Management in general.
